Writer's Workshop: My current read...

"encompassed him with bitterness or hardship. But Jeremiah had allowed his perception to be skewed by his circumstances." (these are two lines)

So what in the world am I reading you ask.

Well, let me preface this by saying that my past is not exactly perfect, nor is it the best past ever. In fact, my past, the pains, the things I went though have molded me in to who I am today. I have been through things that I have not only physically my very much emotionally have scarred me deep and to be honest, in some cases, this hinders me in my walk at times.

So I went to the library not particularly looking for any kind of book about healing from scars and pains from the past...but I came across one that stuck out at me and I have been reading it. I did just start it actually, I had another book I was finishing. And I am really learning from it. It happens to be by an author I have read before and so I borrowed it.

What's the book called you wonder? Well it is called "Your Scars are Beautiful to God" the tag line: "Finding peace and purpose in the hurts of your past." and it's by Sharon Jaynes. It's really good and it's helping me learn more of how to let go.

My past is a hard on, littered with divorce, physical hurt, emotional abuse, stupid decisions, death, forgiveness and teenage antics that I am lucky didn't hurt me worse. I have some deep scars - especially in regards to my best friend who was killed in a car accident - or rather, the fact that our friendship had been so damaged by my stupid teenage jealousy. It's just one scar that is deeply penetrated into my heart.

I wouldn't say that I live each day thinking about it, but it does at times really cause me to stop and not move forward. Certain parts of my past have haunted me and I need to allow myself to move completely forward. God loves me just as I am...scars and all and I need to accept that and allow him to love me.

I will never claim to be perfect (and if I do - tell me to shut it). Or will I ever claim to know the answers to everything (again if I do - tell me to shut it!). I am who I am, scars, triumphs, pain, silliness, and all!

Would I recommend this book - absolutely....
