Friday Meme Time! Aloha #4 and FFF

I was gonna go with the easy question and say something like, what was your favorite Michael Jackson song, but I actually have a very thought provoking question today. In light of the recent celebrity deaths, Ed, Farrah and Michael, and thinking about how each in their own way, good or bad, shaped several generations, I am wondering...

Who, in your life, has shaped you and your "generation"?

For me, I think it was my late children's minster and his amazing wife. It weren't for them, I truly believe I would not be who I am today. Especially Marilyn. She is the reason I wanted to be a children's minister, she is the reason I can say I have worked through my parents divorce. I am so thankful for both Danny and Marilyn. Danny died too soon, but I would like to think that he is looking down on me and very proud of me! And that means a lot!

Head over to An Island Life for more info on Aloha Friday.

-----------------AND NOW ON TO SOME YUMMY FOOD!!!!---------------------------

Ham and Cheese Lasagna
(from Taste of Home Magazine)

3 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cups thinly sliced celery
2 cups chopped carrots
1 cup chopped onion
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tbsp all purpose flour
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 can diced tomatoes with basil, oregano and garlic, undrained
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
9 no cook lasagna noodles

1. In a large skillet, saute the mushrooms, celery, onion and carrots in oil for 4-5 minutes. Add ham and garlic; cook 1-2 minutes longer or until garlic is tender. In a small bowl, combine the flour and cream; stir into ham mixture. Add tomatoes and pepper.
2. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes or until heated through (sauce will be thing).
3. In a small bowl combine cheeses. Place the noodles in a greased 13-in. x 9in x 2in baking dish; top with a third of the ham mixture and a third of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers twice.
4. Cover and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover, back 15-20 minutes longer or until bubbly and cheese is melted. Let stand for 20 minutes before cutting.

This is so freaking good, hope you enjoy!

I think the person that shaped me the most is My Uncle Ernie. He was actually my dad's uncle. He was the wisest person I have ever known. His experiences and stories he shared were priceless. He taught me to live wiser and always ask why? Not to take things at face value.

My parents definitely were a big part in shaping the person I am today! I think all parents are a huge part of this for everyone. It may be wonderful, good things, but could also be not so great of things for some, I guess! My biggest feeling I always have is that I need to be a part of the community and be helping others in some way at all times - too be involved in a project or something, I mean. My parents are 84 & 85 and still do Meals On Wheels and tons of other stuff! Of course they are lucky to have their health still!

My parents were the shaping influence in my life.

It's gonna be Michael Jackson. I've grown up with music and especially his music from Jackson 5 throughout his solo career. He changed music, he changed dance and he's a legend like Elvis. He broke barriers.

My late grandma and a woman who is like a mother to me. W/O them I would have never made it.

My graduating class was 94. It actually seemed like a good class at the time, and as I can see most everyone from my class (who I actually knew, because apparently there were about 600 kids in my class I didn't even know were in my class until our senior picture, how I missed that, i'll never know) is educated and doing really well. I don't know what influenced us. We seemed to miss a lot of the extreme trends. That probably helped.

Oh, and what shaped me personally, probably my goals and also reading the scriptures and praying.

I'm going to have to say my parents. Like most young people they were the biggest influence on me. I'm so much more like my mom than I ever thought I would be.

Wow, that lasagna looks DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely try that this fall when I have to start cooking for my family again. :)

As far as who shaped me & my generation... I think definitely my parents, Sesame Street :), and then my Young Life leaders were super influential in my high school life - a bunch of Christian college students, having fun & sold out for God - made me want to go to Christian college!
