A Change Will Do You Good...

Anyone remember this song by Sheryl Crow? It's ok if you don't, this past has nothing to do with the song it has to do with the word CHANGE.

I have been thinking a lot in the last little bit about changes that need to be made in my life. Simple changes, difficult changes, organizational changes, habit changes, and so on and so forth. I don't expect them to all come at once - one step at a time works for me. I have no specific time line for these changes other than as soon as possible - which could be a week, or a month or a year...just as they work themselves out. Below are just some of the changes I want to work on...

1) FOOD/EATING

Where do I start with this? I have grown up eating junk - no so much junk food, just junk - we were a processed food, canned veggie, eat as much fish sticks and mac and cheese as possible kind of family. As I have gotten older and have my own house, I do a lot less processed food. Don't get me wrong - I love me some easy mac - mostly for the sake that I can make it for Parker super fast and add a lot more cheese in it. But I realize that there are so many additives and crud that just aren't good for your body. So my thought is to go more all natural/organic/make more things at home. To be perfectly honest, I know this won't be a quick think. Drew and I can't afford to go from this to that so quickly. But we want to make small changes here and there. Like for example instead of purchasing say:
These:
Choose these instead:

Things like that...just make small changes, make more things at home (sauces, foods, ect). I'd love to learn how to make homemade granola and things of that nature.

2) Organizing
Oh. My. Word. do I need to go through some of my closets and such and do some killer organizing. I don't have a picture right now, but Parker's closet needs a huge change, it's a huge mess of clothes, shoes, toys, keepsakes, ect. Our panty and pretty much whole kitchen cabinets need to be organized better. Don't get me started on our linen closet...UGH! This is another thing I want to take step by step. I need to price out things to help make the organizing a lot more easy (baskets, plastic containers, ect). This is one of those things that I overwhelms me, but oh do I look forward to things being less cluttered!

3) Eco-Friendly Stuff
This is actually partially for Parker's health. He is sensitive to a lot of dyes, perfumes, chemicals in things. Parker has horrible eczema and it is my hope that the more I use detergent that's eco-friendly/natural/hypoallergenic it will help his skin, same with cleaning solutions, shampoo/body wash...anything that would some how touch his skin.

4) Habits
I have some bad habits. Drinking way too much soda, not brushing my teeth as much as I should, not diving into my Bible and bible study, not doing housework like I should. I have got to break these habits and build new ones (exercising regularly). Yah - this should be interesting.

I am looking forward to making these changes over time. I need it, we need it, and I believe it will be good for us.

Anyone have any good organizing tips or websites? Recipes for easy homemade granola (without nuts) and other homemade things like that...?

Homemade fruit leather is kind of like a fruit roll up and it is super easy. You just use applesauce or pureed frozen berries/fruit, and then dry it. If you have a food dehydrator, you can dry it in there, otherwise you have to use your oven & there are different drying methods- I haven't found any that work perfectly that don't require you to leave your oven door open but if you have a gate on your kitchen, that might not be a problem. It actually tastes really good. :)
